On April 2nd, at 2:48 AM, Ron Nakada, a Senior Software Engineer at Blizzard, passed away. It is said that during his final moments and days proceeding he was surrounded by friends and family. No pain medication was required and he remained “lucid” in his final days. In early December of 2013, Ron Nakada was diagnosed with Stage IV colon cancer, which had effected his liver, lungs and lymph nodes. He continued to battle this disease with great strength throughout its course.
We at GCN would like to extend our condolences to the Nakada family and close friends. Ron Nakada has a wife and four children that now are dealing with this great loss and the overwhelming expenses that come with it. These are wounds that only time will heal. To aid his family, a fundraiser has been started to help ease some of the financial gaps left by his passing. We would like to spread the word and help this fundraiser meet its goal. I believe the gaming community should support its fellow man, and this is one of those times where banding together to provide relief is needed. Here is a direct link to the fundraiser for his family now mourning their loss. Check out the updates section for more information.
